Historically informed reconstructions

What everyday life may have looked like

These scenes combine archaeological evidence, architecture, artifacts, administrative tablets, and ancient art. They are teaching illustrations—not photographs and not exact views of a single excavated day.

How to read these images: the activities and materials are evidence-based, but clothing colors, faces, exact building arrangements, and the moment shown are artistic reconstruction. Mesopotamian life also varied greatly by century, city, class, legal status, gender, and occupation.
